Japanese technology major NTT Inc. and quantum computing development firm OptQC Corp (OptQC) have entered into a collaboration to advance optical quantum computing (QC). Under the collaboration agreement, both companies will develop scalable and highly reliable optical quantum computers with an aim to achieve one million qubits by 2030.
“Under this agreement, the two companies will apply advanced optical communication technologies—such as optical amplification and multiplexing—to the development of optical quantum computers,” said an official press release dated November 18.
Both companies aim to accelerate the practical realisation of large-scale optical quantum computers capable of addressing complex social challenges through this collaboration.
