'Alberta is seeing an increasing severity and need for mental health services closer to home for patients and families,' CASA CEO Bonnie Blakley said

A new mental health facility that will treat 81 youth with severe mental illnesses is a few steps closer to construction and is slated to open in 2027.

The facility, which will be run by the charitable non-profit Child and Adolescent Services Association (CASA), will house 57 patients and treat 24 adolescent day patients with depression, anxiety, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and bipolar disorder.

The centre will be located on a 3.81-acre site within The District in Stoney industrial business park at the southwest corner of 11th Street and 110th Avenue N.E.
