A 13-year-old boy has told a court of his haunting experience inside the controlling home of his “mom and momma” — featuring restraint systems, like straps and zip-ties, and seemingly torturous punishments for misbehaviour — where his brother died, malnourished and emaciated in his basement bedroom.
The teenager is testifying in the case of his two prospective adoptive parents, Brandy Cooney and Becky Hamber, the Burlington women facing first-degree murder charges in relation to his 12-year-old brother’s death on Dec. 21, 2022.
In relation to the younger brother, who is testifying, they face allegations of forcible confinement, assault with a weapon and failure to provide the necessities of life.
