NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Gov. Bill Lee is pushing for the National Guard’s deployment in Memphis to continue after a court ordered it to stop.

The Davidson County Chancery Court issued a ruling that Lee acted beyond his authority in the National Guard’s deployment. The court added that there was no “grave emergency,” “disaster” or request from leaders in Memphis for the deployment.

Lee’s office reports that the state will be appealing the ruling and in the meantime, the Tennessee National Guard will continue operating in Memphis as part of the task force.
