Detroit — Adam Alharbi's close win in Hamtramck's controversial mayoral race grew even closer Tuesday, as Wayne County elections officials certified him as the winner by six votes.

The election night final results showed Alharbi as the victor by an 11-vote margin .

The certified final results show Alharbi with 2,066 total votes (44.6%) against 2,060 for Mahmood (44.4%). Mahmood far outpaced Alharbi in the absentee vote count (1,563 to 1,260) with Alharbi performing better on Election Day (806 to 497). Write-in candidate Lynn Blasey received 504 total votes (10.8%).

"A win is a win," he said after the board voted Tuesday to certify the final results.
