Norfolk County has received two grants from the Ontario government to strengthen invasive species management across the municipality.
The forestry team has been awarded funding through the Invasive Species Action Fund to support on-the-ground management and monitoring of dog-strangling vine, one of Ontario’s highest-risk invasive species.

This investment will enhance Norfolk’s ability to document and control known occurrences of the plant, while raising public awareness about its environmental impacts, said a news release from the county.
Norfolk’s stormwater team has received funding through the Invasive Phragmites Control Fund to purchase equipment and receive training necessary to monitor and treat invasive phragmites.
This initiative will build internal capacity
