GEORGETOWN, Texas — A 41-year-old man was arrested on Monday in connection with a 2020 homicide in Georgetown, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

Members of the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, led by the U.S. Marshals Service, arrested Hernan Perez Juarez in connection with a May 8, 2020, incident in which a woman was found dead in a bathtub inside her Tower Drive home.

Police responding to a welfare check found the woman with a deep laceration to her lower abdomen. Court documents state the victim had been stabbed eight times.

Georgetown police investigated the case and obtained an arrest warrant for Perez Juarez on March 30, 2022. Investigators believe he fled to Mexico after his vehicle was found abandoned in Laredo, near the U.S.-Mexico border.
