WITTMANN, AZ (AZFamily) — Firefighters jumped into action on Monday night to save some furry friends from a house fire just outside the northwest Valley.
Crews from the Surprise Fire-Medical Department helped out the Arizona Fire & Medical Authority with the flames and an animal rescue in Wittmann. Surprise firefighters said they saved 12 dogs, including nine puppies, from the home.
They used Fido bags, which are specialized kits designed to provide first aid for pets in an emergency, to get some of the pups oxygen after breathing in all that smoke.
Crews said they put out the fire quickly and no one was hurt. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
