TEMPE, AZ (AZFamily) — Remnants of the destructive microburst can still be seen through city parks in Tempe over a month later.

“My initial reactions was I didn’t believe it,” said Dazhai Nelson as she saw all the stumps found across Kiwanis Park.

The city is still working to pull up the stumps from the fallen trees after that storm. Nelson, who frequents the parks, is hopeful they’ll soon be replaced with beautiful new trees.

“I love nature. I come walking here once or twice a week. I’d love for them to replace them and maintain the environment that it’s been for the past couple of years,” she said.

The city is working on it, but it’s a big task. Of the more than 500 trees that came down on city property, over 330 stumps still need to be removed.
