New details have come to light in a multi-parish human trafficking scheme.

The scheme involved alleged pimps connecting Latina women with clients through the app WhatsApp.

According to the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office, Edyn Efrain Arevalo has been arrested and is accused of multiple counts of human trafficking and prostitution.

Investigators staged a joint operation last month on Moisant Street involving the Department of Homeland Security, Kenner police, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office and the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office, which led to Arevalo's arrest.
