NORFOLK, Va. — Drivers can expect delays near the site of the new Maury High School starting this week, as road closures and traffic changes take effect for early construction work on the $211 million project approved by the Norfolk City Council in August.
Road closures began Tuesday on Llewellyn Avenue, from Shirley Avenue to 20th Street. According to the city, utility work requires all southbound lanes in that stretch to be closed, with northbound lanes experiencing intermittent stoppages.
Southbound drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians will be detoured. Local traffic is encouraged to use Colley Avenue or Granby Street to reach 20th Street or Shirley Avenue. To avoid the area entirely, the city recommends using Colley Avenue and Granby Street between 21st Street and Princess Anne Ave
