COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - After nearly 10 years, a murder case has began in Columbus.

Stacey Gray is facing numerous charges in the murder of Renee Eldridge, including murder, malice murder, rape, aggravated assault and kidnapping.

In a court room Tuesday morning, prosecutors say 25-year-old Renee Eldridge was kidnapped from her home. Her body was found three days later - thrown into a creek in Valley, Alabama, with her feet tied to a cement block.

Prosecutors outlined the state’s case during opening statements, saying Eldridge had been out at bars with her mother Nancy Gray and friends on the night of July 3, 2015. The group ended up at Acer’s Bar near Victory Drive around 1:30 a.m. on July 4.
