HENRY COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) - Two people are facing charges after a welfare check led officers to find 106 dogs living in dangerous and unsanitary conditions.
On Friday afternoon, Henry County deputies received a tip about an excessive number of dogs living at a home on Winnie Lane.
They found 106 dogs ranging from Poodles, Chihuahuas, Great Pyrenees, and other popular breeds in kennels and within a fence.
Sheriff Wayne Davis says they were living in unsafe, poor conditions with large amounts of feces and urine throughout the home – making for the largest hoarding situation he’s seen in his time as sheriff.
“This is the largest animal rescue effort that’s taken place since I’ve been sheriff in nearly three years,” said Sheriff Wayne Davis with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.
