As Thanksgiving approaches, hundreds of families across our community are receiving a helping hand.

Local organizations and volunteers are seeing a record number of people reaching out for assistance. Advertisement

“You have families that sometimes they don't know where their next meal is coming from,” said Dorron Hunter, president and CEO of Future Ambassadors Inc.

Thanksgiving is a holiday built around food. For some, that can be difficult.

“With the SNAP situation and the government shut down at one point, so many families are dependent on other outsourced resources,” Hunter said.

But Hunter and his team of volunteers at Future Ambassadors Inc. are lending a helping hand and hosting their annual "Spread Love Turkey Day."
