GEORGETOWN, Ky. (WKYT) - Toyota is investing $204.4 million in its Georgetown plant to add 82 jobs and install a new machining line for 4-cylinder hybrid engines.
Toyota recently announced plans to invest up to $10 billion in the U.S. over the next five years.
“We’re always studying some level of activity and we’re typically two or three years in advance of discussions about where we’re going to make strategic investments,” Chad Miller, TMMK VP of Manufacturing said.
The Georgetown investment is part of Toyota’s $912 million commitment across five U.S. manufacturing plants to meet growing demand for hybrid vehicles. The company is adding 252 new jobs total and bringing hybrid-electric Toyota Corollas to its production lineup.
