CLEVELAND, Ohio – A 16-year-old girl died after being struck by a car in North Ridgeville on Monday, authorities said.

Violet Gustafson died around 6 p.m. after she was hit while walking on Lorain Road, near a McDonald’s restaurant, according to police.

Paramedics transported her to UH St. John Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead.

No other injuries were reported. Authorities did not indicate what factors caused the crash.

North Ridgeville police are investigating. No arrests have been made.

Following the accident, Lorain Road was closed between Cook Road and the Ohio Turnpike. The road was reopened a few hours later, police said.

Violet was a junior at North Ridgeville High School. The teen also attended the Lorain County Joint Vocational School.
