Porterville College is removing the interim tag from Primavera Monarrez, announcing Tuesday that she will be the college’s next president.

Monarrez has served as the college’s interim president since July of last year.

The big picture: The Kern Community College District announced that Monarrez was selected after a nationwide search and competitive process. • She got the job after being named a finalist alongside Jesse Pisors and Tia Robinson-Cooper.

Driving the news: Monarrez brings over 20 years of experience in education to Porterville College. • She is a Central Valley native and a product of the California community college system. • Monarrez previously served as the Vice President of Student Services at Porterville College and as the Dean of Student Success at Taft College.
