WEST LIBERTY, Iowa (KWQC) - West Liberty Police determined the drowning of a 1-year-old child in August was accidental on Tuesday.
After reviewing witness statements, evidence and medical examination reports, investigators said the drowning was an accident, according to a media release.
In August, officers went to a home in the 500 block of East 1st Street for an unresponsive child. When they arrived, emergency crews found the child, who was found in a backyard pool.
Police said the child later died at University of Iowa Hospital despite efforts from family, first responders and hospital medical staff.
