GOODYEARS BAR, Calif. —
Months after a Sierra County man disappeared, officials believe he may have died and that local wildlife likely dragged his body away.
The Sierra County Sheriff's Office said on Sunday that 78-year-old Gil Clark of Goodyears Bar was reported missing Aug. 14 but was last seen in Downieville either on Aug. 5 or Aug. 6. His disappearance prompted the sheriff's office and Nevada County's search and rescue unit to search through four miles of Highway 49 between Downieville and Goodyears Bar, an area Clark was known to frequently walk around.
First responders also searched the area near his residence, including wooded terrain behind his home. During that search, the sheriff's office noted a lot of bear activity, and neighbors had recently reported mountain lion activit
