The New Orleans Police Department has fired Officer Larry King Jr., ending his two-decade career after an internal investigation found repeated violations and followed years of unresolved criminal and administrative cases.
King, who amassed one of the most extensive disciplinary files in the department, was the subject of a four-year NOPD Public Integrity Bureau investigation that concluded in July. His termination followed an August disciplinary hearing before NOPD leadership.
Records show King accumulated 18 sustained violations over 12 years, including a conviction for driving while intoxicated. Body-camera footage from that incident showed him riding a motorcycle drunk on the Huey P. Long Bridge while his license was suspended and his registration expired.
