KENNER, La. — The Kenner Police SWAT team raided a home in the 1200 block of Moisant Street on Nov. 6 as part of coordinated human trafficking takedowns across the state.

John Joseph lives in the house directly behind it. He was just waking up when he heard screaming and sirens and went to investigate.

"I heard this big old bang and I just ran inside,” Joseph said. “I didn't know what was going on.”

In January, authorities received a tip that a man nicknamed "Primo" was trafficking women out of the Moisant Street home and an apartment in Baton Rouge.

Investigators identified "Primo" as Maurilio Vargas. His wife, Zabdi Guzman-Diaz, was also implicated in the alleged prostitution ring.
