Despite pushback from parents , the attendance zones for two east Louisville schools will change next year, impacting incoming new middle schoolers in the area.

Jefferson County Board of Education members approved the changes for Crosby and Echo Trail middle schools, which will now send incoming sixth graders and new students living in an area close to Interstate 265 to Crosby Middle, rather than Echo Trail. Students already attending the school will not be impacted by the change. Additionally, "every effort will be made to address siblings that are separated by the proposed boundary change when possible," according to JCPS.

The reason for the shift, according to JCPS, is that Echo Trail is already over capacity, and if nothing changes, the school is projected to be at 133% capacity two
