The U.S. House on Tuesday displayed rare solidarity in voting overwhelmingly to pass a bill compelling the Justice Department to release its files on convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The final tally was 427-1, with only Rep. Clay Higgins (R-La.) opposing.

But Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) believes the legislation could encounter hurdles as it now advances to the Senate.

Prior to Tuesday’s vote, Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) indicated Senate Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) would seek to amend the House bill. Any amendments approved by the Senate would require another House vote and further delay the release of the DOJ’s cache of files.

Massie, speaking after the vote, criticized Johnson’s approach.
