A doctor accused of sexually assaulting a patient at a Conway hospital was booked into the Faulkner County jail on Tuesday afternoon, according to an online inmate roster.

Guy Langley Peeples, 65, of Vilonia, had been sought on a rape charge in the Nov. 10 assault of the 70-year-old patient at Baptist Health Medical Center in Conway, who had been recovering from hernia surgery, police said.

A woman working as a "virtual nurse" or "virtual sitter" noticed Peeples' inappropriate behavior while monitoring a camera in the patient's room, the affidavit states. A hospital administrator explained to the detective that such cameras are used to monitor patients at risk of falls or who suffer from dementia or for other reasons, according to an affidavit by a Conway police detective.
