Several environmental organizations filed a lawsuit Tuesday against the state’s Department of Environmental Conservation over a proposed natural gas pipeline.
The Northeast Supply Enhancement Project would run beneath New York harbor to New Jersey.
The project has been rejected by the state twice until this year, when Gov. Kathy Hochul approved the pipeline following talks with President Donald Trump.
The move has sparked outrage by many environmental groups, including the Natural Resources Defense Council — one of the groups taking legal action.
The lawsuit argues that the pipeline project poses significant risks to water quality.
Mark Izeman, a senior strategist at the NRDC, joined “Inside City Hall” to discuss the project and lawsuit.
