Attention Philadelphia residents! The city is warning that scammers have created a website that looks like the official water bill payment site, but it's not.

City officials are saying that this tactic by scammers is called "domain spoofing" or "URL spoofing" where they make a fake website that looks very similar to the real thing in order to get people to give them their financial and personal data.

In this case, some Philly residents who use the online payment portal "MyPhillyWaterBill" have been tricked into providing their payment information to the website "myphillywaterbill.com" thinking its the real thing.

To access the real payment portal, residents can go to phila.gov/pay or phila.gov/revenu
