A vote on installing restrictions on data centers in New Castle County will have to wait after an ordinance was tabled during Tuesday night's county council meeting.
Sponsoring Councilman David Carter (6th District) told WDEL earlier Tuesday a tabling was likely to allow the Land Use Department to review a series of 7 floor amendments that were added to the ordinance on Tuesday, including five from Janet Kilpatrick (3rd District) and two by Brandon Toole (1st District).
The first of Kilpatrick's amendments aimed to reduce the level of review for proposed data centers in some zoning areas, lumping them in with large industrial structures, and also reducing the distance from residential areas from 1,000 feet down to 500 feet.
