COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Challenger Sam Johnson defeated incumbent Columbia City Councilwoman Aditi Bussells in a runoff election for the at-large seat.

Johnson got 5,710 votes, and Bussells only got 4,540 votes.

Bussells had accused Johnson’s supporters of being behind “vicious” online attacks against her, a claim which he denied.

Johnson campaigned on a platform where public safety and protecting Columbia’s historic neighborhoods were two of his top priorities, according to his website .

Bussells was initially elected to her seat in 2021.
