Authorities carried out what Tucson police called the final clear out of the 100-Acre Wood on Tuesday, as they prepare to transform the area into a new bike park. Up to 500 people were estimated to have been living there at its height, but law enforcement and outreach teams say the site is now largely vacated.
We have six dump trucks, we have six skid steers and probably close to 12 officers, said Lt. Brian Corcoran of the Tucson Police Department, describing the scale of the operation. Its a heavy lift, but well get it all done today.
