KINGSTON, Wash. — One year ago, a massive bomb cyclone hit western Washington, destroying homes and dismantling lives. One Kitsap County family is still living in the storm's aftermath, struggling to rebuild the emotional centerpiece of their lives.

"This is where my bedroom was," said Jaxon McKelvie, standing amid the ruins of his family's Kingston vacation home.

The waterfront Kingston house held a special place in the 15-year-old's heart. He spent summers and holidays here since he was born, a family tradition for more than half a century.

"It's just been kind of sad to see a place that I've grown up in. It's tough to see it like this," he said.
