For a holiday adventure your family will never forget, why not get a permit to cut your own tree in one of the five National Forests in New Mexico?
Permits to get a tree at the Carson, Cibola, Gila, Lincoln, or Santa Fe national forests can be bought online at Recreation.gov/tree-permits from now until Dec. 24 and until Dec. 31 at some locations. Find the forest you're looking for, click on it, and you will get all the information you need.
Permit prices vary depending on height or which forest you are buying a permit for. Some forests allow cutting more than one tree. The rules on what you can and cannot do may vary from forest to forest, so read the directions carefully.
