LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - On Tuesday, the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government decided to delay a vote on an ordinance involving the construction and leasing of a new city hall.

The concern came after public comments from community members who were concerned about the city government’s priorities.

District Ten Councilman Dave Sevigny motioned to move the item to the docket on Thursday.

District Five Councilwoman Liz Sheehan was the only council member to vote no. She says she wanted to give the public even more time to learn more about the major project.

“This is the first time the public is seeing the financial information, which is a very important piece of this,” Sheehan said.

The project cost summary projects that the new government center would cost an estimated $86.6 million.
