SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began in 2022, more than 5 million Ukrainians have left the war- torn nation.

Holy Cross College psychology professor Dr. Cosette Fox recently traveled to Poland to help young Ukrainian refugees deal with the psychological trauma of being forced from their home by war.

16 News Now sat down with Dr. Fox Tuesday.

As part of ‘Project Personality’, Dr. Fox seeks to help youth — both at home and abroad — instill a growth mindset for self-improvement.

Dr. Fox says accepting change in yourself and your environment leads to improved mental health — and she’s already seen results from the Ukrainian refugees she worked with last month.
