WATERLOO, Iowa (KCRG) - A Waterloo man was sentenced for possessing a gun illegally after having two previous felony convictions.
38-year-old Jimarus Puckett, of Waterloo, pleaded guilty to one count of possession of a firearm as a felon in May.
In July 2023, police conducted a traffic stop on a car that Puckett was a passenger in and found a rifle equipped with a large magazine in the back seat.
Police say Puckett was banned from having guns based on two previous felony convictions and a prior misdemeanor conviction for domestic assault.
Puckett was sentenced to six years in federal prison and must serve a three-year supervised release following imprisonment.
