CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - The Iowa Department of Transportation announced on Tuesday that the final phase of the Interstate 380 lane widening project could be completed by 2033.
The project between North Liberty and Cedar Rapids has progressed through multiple phases over the course of nearly a decade. Two of the three phases will be completed in the next few years, but the DOT announced that the final phase, between Swan Lake Road and 120th Street near Shueyville, could be completed within the next eight years.
Jacob Meier of Tiffin, who travels to Cedar Rapids daily for work, said traffic congestion is already a concern.
“In the afternoon, it can get really congested,” Meier said.
