A Gillette man who was accused of choking his girlfriend has reached a plea deal, but the woman wrote a letter to the judge, saying she had concerns about his recommended sentence.
Tristan Bunker, 25, was charged with strangulation of a household member, domestic battery and false imprisonment after an incident in mid-July that led to a standoff with the Gillette Police Department.
After reaching a plea deal with the Campbell County Attorney’s Office, Bunker pleaded guilty Nov. 4 to strangulation and domestic battery. In exchange for his plea, prosecutors dropped the false imprisonment charge and recommended that he serve two to four years in prison. He also must pay $1,161.20 to the Division of Victim Services.
The victim, now Bunker’s ex-girlfriend, wrote a letter to the judge, saying
