In a continued crackdown on drug peddling and narcotics smuggling in the district, Police on Wednesday have arrested a drug peddler and recovered a significant quantity of contraband from his possession in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

A Spokesperson said that Police Post Verinag received credible information that one individual, Mukhtar Ahmad Haji son of Gh. Rasool Haji resident of Bonagund Verinag, had concealed cannabis-like substance in a tin shed near his residence. Acting swiftly on this input, a case FIR No. 110/2025 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Dooru, and investigation was taken up.
