This week’s photo, provided by the Menominee Range Historical Museum, gives a glimpse of what hunting camp looked like in the 1890s.

Hunters posed near the primitive shelter in Florence County, Wis., after what looks to have been a successful hunt.

The buck pole is fastened between two tall trees and about five whitetail deer are visible.

The hindquarters of another deer are shown at the right next to the tree.

The picture was taken by Jorgen Johansen Eskil, a pioneer photographer on the Menominee Iron Range.
