Mangaluru, Nov 19: In a remarkable milestone for cancer care in coastal Karnataka, the department of surgical oncology at KMC Attavar successfully performed a Cytoreductive Surgery (CRS) followed by Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC) for a patient diagnosed with Pseudomyxoma Peritonei a rare and challenging peritoneal surface malignancy.
The complex, high-precision surgery was led by Dr Dishitha Shetty, surgical oncologist, with comprehensive support from a dedicated multidisciplinary team comprising Dr Malini Mohan, medical oncologist; Dr Abhishek Krishna, radiation oncologist; and Dr Akshatha, anaesthesiologist. The coordinated efforts of the surgical, anaesthesia, and intensive care teams ensured the procedure was completed successfully and safely.
