A court in Pakistan has ordered the police to stop harassing an Indian woman from Punjab, who reportedly converted to Islam and married a Lahore-based man she met on social media. Sarabjeet Kaur from Punjab's Kapurthala and her husband Nasir Hussain filed a petition claiming that the police were pressuring them to end their marriage.
On November 3, a batch of 2,000 pilgrims, including Kaur, entered Pakistan via the Wagah Border to attend festivities related to the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
The next day, the 38-year-old divorcee with two children, skipped a scheduled visit to Nankana Sahib, one of the most revered sites for the Sikh community, and instead went to Sheikhupura with Hussain, where they married later that day as per Muslim rituals, according to police.
