San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie’s “Family Zoning” plan to increase housing density across much of The City moved forward this week when a key Board of Supervisors committee adopted various amendments and tabled a slew of others that state officials had said would reduce or constrain development.

The controversial plan, which would encourage development — particularly in The City’s northern and western neighborhoods — is apparently nearing its final form. It is scheduled to be heard again on Dec. 1 by the Land Use and Transportation Committee and then go immediately to the full Board of Supervisors.
