CINCINNATI, Ohio — Heading into the 2024 NFL season, there was a lot of optimism around the Cincinnati Bengals.
Joe Burrow was back from right wrist ligament surgery, and they were only one year removed from reaching their second consecutive AFC Championship Game.
They also opened the season at home against a Patriots team that finished last in the AFC and did not start third overall pick Drake Maye.
However, that game was a harbinger of bad things to come.
