MONTEAGLE, Tennessee (WDEF) – We have an update on the work going on to six a rockslide that happened last week on Monteagle Mountain.
A lane has been closed on I 24 west to address the area of bluff that slide onto the freeway.
From the TDOT photo, you can see the gap where crews hammered out unstable rock.
They then used a bulldozer to turn the rock into a berm that should catch any future slides.
The right lane near mile marker 137 will remain closed while engineers design a more permanent repair.
The mountain freeway has kept TDOT busy for awhile.
Over the last five years, they have fixed six sites in the westbound lanes (towards Nashville) in Marion County and they are working on another one in the eastbound lane in Grundy County.
