UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio -- Mayor Michael Dylan Brennan has a sore left wrist but escaped further injury after his car struck a parked vehicle Friday (Nov. 14) evening on Silsby Road.
At 5:35 that night, Brennan’s 2017 Buick was heading east on Silsby Road when it struck a 2018 Dodge van that was parked in the street in front of 4470 Silsby Road. The crash, according to the University Heights police accident report, left the van disabled.
The street was closed off for about 15 minutes as EMS readied the mayor for transport to Hillcrest Hospital.
Brennan said he swerved to avoid a squirrel, which sent his car toward the parked van, owned by a Lyndhurst man.
Police calculated that Brennan was traveling 25 miles per hour on the street, which has a 25-MPH speed limit.
