A doctor has explained why some people are more prone to migraines than others. According to the NHS , a migraine feels 'like a very bad headache with a throbbing pain on one side '.

A migraine is often accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and extreme sensitivity to light and sound. An attack can last anywhere between an hour and several days.

They are sometimes preceded by something known as an aura, which is usually a bright flashing light or tingling on one side of the face or in an arm or leg.
