A threat posted on YouTube has led Easton Area Middle School to beef up its police presence and security on Wednesday, district officials said.

A letter written by Principal Elise Jones and obtained by lehighvalleylive.com began circulating among parents Tuesday evening on social media.

The letter stated school officials became aware of the threat during dismissal Tuesday afternoon at the school at 1010 Echo Trail in Forks Township.

The YouTube posting involved a potential threat to students at the school, Jones stated in the letter.

“We take any report of this nature extremely seriously, and the health, safety and well-being of our students and staff will always remain our highest priority,” Jones stated.
