Masked men armed with swords and sticks vandalised a cafe in Bhopal's Misrod area on the night of November 18, 2025. The incident, which lasted less than two minutes, caused panic among customers, who fled for safety. Police have detained four suspects in connection with the attack, which was captured on CCTV and has since gone viral on social media.
According to police reports, around 20 masked individuals stormed the Magic Spot Cafe at approximately 7:10 PM, damaging furniture and fixtures. Deputy Commissioner of Police Vivek Singh stated that the attackers did not attempt to steal anything, suggesting the incident may have stemmed from an ongoing dispute between two groups. "It appears to be a matter of an ongoing dispute between two groups, one of which used to regularly sit at this cafe. The cafe owner was not aware of the dispute," Singh explained.
The cafe, owned by Saksham Giri, has been operational for about six months. Following the attack, Giri filed a complaint naming five individuals, including a prime suspect identified as Yogi. An FIR has been registered under various sections related to rioting and assault, and police are actively searching for the remaining suspects.
Injuries were reported during the incident, with a staff member sustaining a sword injury and a customer suffering from blows to the hand. Police have formed multiple teams from five different police stations to track down the assailants, utilising CCTV footage and other investigative methods.
The incident has drawn criticism from the opposition Congress party, which has condemned the state government's handling of law and order. They highlighted the deteriorating security situation in Bhopal, with Leader of the Opposition Umang Singhar stating, "This video clearly shows the extent to which law and order has deteriorated in the state capital. It seems the state's security system is now left to God's mercy."
