A man in his 20s has been charged following a brutal knife attack that resulted in the death of a woman and left her husband injured in Cork, Ireland. The incident occurred on the night of 17th November 2025, when Stella Gallagher was fatally attacked, while her husband, Brian Gallagher, is currently receiving treatment in hospital.
Police confirmed that the man arrested at the scene has been charged and is scheduled to appear before Cork City District Court later today, 19th November 2025. A Garda spokesperson stated, "Gardaí investigating the fatal incident in Ballinlough have charged the male in his 20s who was arrested at the scene."
Emergency services were alerted shortly after 9pm on Monday, with Armed Support Units dispatched to the location. Neighbours reported hearing "terrible screaming" from the normally quiet estate, prompting immediate calls to the authorities.
A full forensic examination of the property has been conducted as part of the ongoing investigation. In addition, a family liaison officer has been appointed to assist the relatives of the deceased.
