A man has been discovered deceased in a canal in Birmingham, prompting a police investigation. West Midlands Police responded to reports of an individual in the water at Bordesley Green East, near the River Cole, at approximately 1.20pm on Tuesday, 18 November.
Upon arrival, officers made the unfortunate discovery. A police spokesperson stated, "We were called to Bordesley Green East at around 1.20pm yesterday to reports of a man in a canal. Sadly, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. His death is not being treated as suspicious and will be referred to the coroner in due course."
The West Midlands Ambulance Service also attended the scene, receiving a call at 1.48pm. A spokeswoman for the service reported, "We were called to an incident in an area off Bordesley Green East in Yardley, Birmingham. We sent an ambulance and paramedic officer to the scene. On arrival, crews found a man but sadly, it quickly became clear he could not be saved. He was confirmed dead at the scene."
The circumstances surrounding the man's death are currently under investigation, with authorities working to provide further details as they become available.
