MERIDIAN — Meridian firefighters responded late Tuesday night to a large structure fire at the old Meridian Fruit and Produce building, bringing the blaze under control within minutes, officials said.

The fire was reported around 10:30 p.m. on 5th Street beneath the 29th Avenue overpass. Chief Deputy Eric Hardy with the Meridian Fire Department said crews arrived to find heavy flames coming from the structure.

Truck One, the department’s ladder truck, was deployed due to the size and intensity of the fire. Firefighters were able to knock down the blaze within 15 to 20 minutes, Hardy said.

No injuries were reported.
